This species will grow in shade, or in sun with moist soil. Cut back the stems after flowering to promote a second bloom. This plant will self seed and spread. Wild Columbine is evergreen unless the temperature exceeds 110 degrees F or -10 degrees F, which will cause the leaves to go dormant until the temperature returns to a more tolerable level. Attracts hummingbirds, butterflies and bees.
