MSD provides safe, clean waterways for all Louisville-area residents. One of MSD’s core services is to collect and treat wastewater. Our service area has a population of approximately 750,000 people. Daily, each person generates about 100 gallons of wastewater. That is approximately 75 million gallons of wastewater each day that MSD must treat and return to the watershed.
