Green Infrastructure Program

MSD builds and promotes green installations that reduce stormwater runoff. MSD administers regulations that require green installations for development disturbing an acre or more. 

MSD’s Green Infrastructure Program locates, builds or incentivizes opportunities for green installations. This lessens the need and the cost of additional infrastructure like storage tanks, large pipes and treatment facilities. It also means decreasing sewer overflows and treatment facility stress. These cost-effective solutions not only save MSD customers money, they also improve local waterway quality.

MSD offers partnership incentives for qualified green infrastructure projects, and Downspout Disconnection and Urban Reforestation programs.

MSD also offers credits to reduce drainage service charges for property owners who agree to operate green infrastructure best management practices on their properties.

Qualified Post-Construction Inspector Training (QPCI)

Required annual inspections of post-construction best management practices must be completed by a Qualified Post-Construction Inspector (QPCI) per the Long Term Maintenance and Operation Agreement (LTMOA).
