This very adaptable species will grown in full sun as well as full shade, and will tolerate a wide variety of soil conditions. Self-seeds and may spread aggressively. Leaving foliage in place over winter adds interest to the landscape, helps protect crowns from the cold, and provides food for birds. Cut back to the ground in late winter. Attracts butterflies and birds.
