Green Bulrush

Prefers full to partial sun and moist conditions. Short- lived. Bulrush forms a buffer against wind and wave action, thus permitting other aquatic plants to grow in an otherwise unfavorable environment. Seed heads turn brown and remain on the plant through the growing season. Can be propagated by division in the early spring. Cut back in later winter or early spring. Provides food and cover for caterpillars, waterfowl, songbirds and shorebirds.
