Gray-headed Coneflower

Gray-headed coneflower is an excellent choice for a wildflower garden because of its long blooming period and attractive yellow flowers. Tall stalks may need to be staked; plants can be cut back in spring to create a shorter and fuller plant. This species can also be planted next to Switchgrass to support its stems from flopping over. Best if massed together when planted. Long summer bloom period. Cut back plants in late fall through late winter. Attracts bees and butterflies. Food source for caterpillars. Seeds consumed by birds.
