Gray Goldenrod

Prefers full sun, can tolerate both well drained and clay soil. A small goldenrod, this plant seldom reaches 2 ft. in height. Flowers late into the fall. It's a good choice for difficult locations, such as slopes or areas with poor soil, where little else will grow. Not as aggressive as many goldenrod species. Cut back plants in late winter. Attracts bees and butterflies. Food source for caterpillars. Seeds consumed by a small number of birds. Makes a nice cut flower.
