Fringed Sedge

Grows best in full sun or light shade and moist conditions. The distinctive long, dangling fruits are attractive. This sedge often forms colonies of plants. Some seasonal flooding is tolerated. This is a rather lanky sedge that leans to one side as the spikelets develop. Cut back last year's growth during the winter months. Food source for caterpillars of moths and butterflies. Food source for wetland birds and ducks.
