Brome-like Sedge

Forms attractive, dense clumps. Dried remnants of older leaf blades are usually persistent around the base. Cut back late winter or early spring. Prefers wet to consistently wet conditions and full sun to part shade. There is an orange cast to the plants when they are in fruit. Food source for several species of caterpillars. Attracts birds and ducks. Muskrats will sometimes feed on the roots.
