Broad Leaf Arrow Head

Vigorous aquatic species. Flowers from July-September. Will self- seed and must dead-head spent flowers to prevent any unwanted self-seeding. Closely related to the Water Plantain. This species is reportedly tolerant of polluted water. Underground tubers are a source of food for several species of ducks, muskrats and snapping turtles. Another common name for this species, Duck Potato, is related to the underground tuber that ducks enjoy to eat. The flowers attract bird and bees.
