Black Eyed Susan

This species has a long flowering time from early through mid- summer. Biennial or short lived perennial. Can self-seed freely and may become aggressive. Weeding back may be required to prevent excessive spread. May need to be staked. Cut back dead plant material in the early spring to allow birds to feed on the seed during the winter months. Attracts birds, bees and butterflies. This species can tolerate soils under Black Walnut trees. Makes good cut flowers.
