Giant Burreed

Bur reeds are aquatic or marsh herbs with grass-like leaves, and small flowers densely crowded into globose heads in or above the axils of bract-like leaves. Prefers full sun and wet conditions. Good plant for wetland restorations. Last year's growth can be cut back during the winter months; however, plants will thrive in wetland settings without cutting back. Food source for wetland birds and caterpillars of various moths.
