MSD To Become Part Of Park Hill Neighborhood Redevelopment

June 11, 2024

LOUISVILLE, KY – To meet the needs of its growing workforce, while becoming an anchor in a key redevelopment initiative project in West Louisville, MSD is moving its Main Office to the Park Hill neighborhood.

The new location for MSD is located at 1600 W. Hill Street, and provides 130,000 square feet on five floors, which is 57 percent more space than MSD’s current four-floor office at 700 West Liberty Street. MSD closed on the new property, which was formerly owned by Clariant, on May 15.

“This is a great opportunity for one of our largest public institutions to meet their future needs while investing in property that is going to be part of a thriving redevelopment corridor of our city. We are supportive and encouraged by MSD’s investment in the Park Hill neighborhood,” Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said.

The transition to the new facility will take place over the course of 2024 and into 2025 and will establish MSD as an anchor institution in Park Hill.

MSD is excited to be a part of a growing neighborhood, especially as the former Rhodia chemical plant is in the process of being redeveloped into a nearly 17-acre mixed-use project that will include affordable housing and green space.

MSD Board Chair Marita Willis stated, “The property acquisition today sets the stage for the future decades of utility service to this community. This move will allow MSD to be more collaborative, have more impact, and will provide a great place for employees to work and thrive.”

Executive Director Tony Parrott added, “As the provider of three critical utilities in one at MSD, we must be innovative in our service to a growing community. The action today will allow MSD to have the footprint to better serve the region, have our teams together in a collaborative space, and will enable us to be a key part of the new exciting chapter of the Park Hill Neighborhood.”
