MSD’s Protection Of Regional Waterways Earns National Clean Water Awards

August 28, 2024

LOUISVILLE, KY – Nine of MSD’s water quality treatment centers in Bullitt, Jefferson, and Oldham Counties are recognized by the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) as among the best in the nation for treating and cleaning wastewater before releasing it to area creeks, streams, and rivers.

The award recognizes the continued outstanding operation of wastewater treatment facilities, which completely and consistently meet permit compliance—as regulated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Kentucky Division of Water—while protecting the environment and the water quality of our creeks, streams, and rivers.

Operators at MSD’s Cedar Creek Water Quality Treatment Center earned a Platinum* 16 Award for complete and consistent permit compliance—with zero violations—for 16 consecutive years.

“The achievement of this award is challenging to obtain,” said MSD Deputy Chief of Operations Daymond Talley. “It is a tribute to the resolve of all the MSD wastewater treatment team members who take the mission of protecting local waterways to heart, going above and beyond to maintain and operate these facilities in an excellent manner.”
